Maxus returned to the UK this year, SAIC map of Europe emerges

From 2009 to acquire British Commercial Vehicle Company intellectual property and technology platform MAXUS brand, SAIC MAXUS will always return to the UK as part of a dream realized. Today, this dream will be realized.

SAIC MAXUS , general manager of Blue Pine recently told reporters that the first car SAIC MAXUS V80 will be available in the UK this year. In 2015, after this, the second product SAIC MAXUS G10, will go directly to the mainstream market, including the UK. Currently, SAIC Maxus on the product is ready, March 21, SAIC Maxus G10 will be officially off the assembly line in Wuxi, Jiangsu.

MAXUS SAIC commercial vehicles as its own brand, SAIC is also an important part of the internationalization strategy. Reporters learned that, in strategic overseas Operations latest SAIC developed, clearly, SAIC to build Chinese brand in overseas operations model.

Like most independent brand, SAIC own brand also face intense competitive environment, coupled with foreign equity release will inevitably lead to undermine the right to speak Chinese, SAIC urgent need to find a new breakthrough in this way before.

    Four typical regional strike

And only pursue different sales in overseas markets, SAIC Overseas Operations latest SAIC's strategic goal is to build up its own brand overseas.

SAIC overseas chose four typical regional markets: ASEAN, Latin America, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. ASEAN is a region where the right rudder, the purpose is to develop into the ASEAN market right rudder area. Thailand as one of the important member of ASEAN, fast car market growth, market potential, SAIC is the focus of the ASEAN Regional overseas deployment.

December 2012, SAIC's passenger car brand MG has officially signed with the Chia Tai Group of Thailand, according to the plan, the two sides will build a production capacity of 50,000 joint venture plant in Thailand. And in the form of CKD parts exports from China, the future of the region to Australia and Southeast Asian countries exports.

Followed last December, SAIC MAXUS also signed a joint venture agreement with Thailand Chia Tai Group, a joint venture between the two sides plan SAIC Thai companies. Pre-export model will be landing vehicle market according to plan joint venture in Thailand and the subsequent formation of scale in the near KD expand cooperation in all aspects of manufacturing and modified car business.

SAIC plans to table its own brand in Latin America is a mature area of exports, relatively speaking channels mature, high consumer awareness of Chinese brands, SAIC will help open up the market faster. The Middle East is the development of its own brand overseas export area, while Eastern Europe is the brand area.

In early March this year, SAIC has made a breakthrough in the Middle East market, has successfully listed on Iran and the UAE. Iran is one of the world's eight major auto market, has great potential, while local companies with a mature sound system, automobile manufacturing technology, high barriers to entry, it has always been a bridgehead in the Middle East, China's auto market. The world's leading international Dubai, Abu Dhabi and so will the United Arab Emirates, is one of the most developed countries in the Middle East, but also the GCC (Cooperation Council for the Arab States overseas) is the second-largest auto market.

However, in the overseas market to achieve the ultimate SAIC brand building, to be successful in the European market, while Eastern Europe is SAIC conquer Europe "bridgehead." SAIC hopes to open up the four regions, the successful build up overseas mature sales channels to maximize the brand's operations, landing distribution, local operators, localized services and timely support.

    MAXUS and MG

In the Ministry's strategic overseas operations, SAIC internationalization will "MAXUS and MG as a leader, led its other brands such as Wuling, Yuejin and other exports."

In SAIC's product line, there are two brands from Europe, MAXUS and MG, starting from the date of acquisition, SAIC put the two brands to return to Europe as an important step in overseas strategy. Earlier, in the UK production passenger car brand SAIC MG6 and MG3 has successfully entered the United Kingdom.

The gene has an international SAIC MAXUS locked from the start although since their global development goals. In just three years, SAIC and Maxus successfully entered 22 countries and regions, however, MAXUS return to the road in the UK is still arduous.

The reason is that with respect to the MG, was acquired by SAIC after MAXUS, no production base in Europe, so MAXUS to return to the UK, based on the identity of the foreign brands to enter, you need to re-audit the access threshold and must comply with the EU under the new conditions regulations and standards.

However, at present, these conditions are no longer an obstacle MAXUS return to the UK. SAIC MAXUS V80 will be the first product to achieve this year in the UK market.

SAIC MAXUS related business leader told reporters: "2014, SAIC MAXUS should focus on to achieve two major events in the overseas market to return to Europe to achieve First floor, the second is the current has entered the market, to enhance MAXUS products. share of the local market, to V80 on the road 'visualization' stage. "Then, by 1-2 years, the brand visualization to enhance the reliability of the product. 2016 will have to achieve the trustworthiness of the brand.

To realize this plan, MAXUS has launched a three-step product strategy. After the 2014 V80 launch in the UK early 2015, SAIC will G10 into the UK market, after 2017, SAIC will launch a large-scale overseas products mainly for pickup.

After achieving a national leader in SAIC's goal is to become a competitive international business, which is the goal of SAIC Overseas Operations strategy. The measure is whether it can make a difference in SAIC international mainstream markets.

After MG3 in the UK, SAIC passenger car sales in the UK steadily. However, because the impact of competitive passenger car market and brand concept, MG brand's footsteps to return to the UK much more difficult. To this end, SAIC's international strategy will rely more independent commercial vehicle brands.

News from SMTC UK or MG UK though, or is it a totally separate enterprise? The Maxus HQ must be at Longbridge, surely?

Shanghai Commercial Vehicles is a totally separate subsidiary of Shanghai Automotive (SAIC).

I'm sure they use SMTC and share components, such as the 2.0Turbo engine, and news from the SAIC chairman will cover both MG and Maxus but they are separate businesses.

I imagine they will share Longbridge in the same way that SMTC shares Longbridge. Longbridge is of course owned (leased) by MG Motor UK (NAC). Maybe they will also share dealers, although commercial vehicles tend to have separate dealers - you don't buy a Ford Transit from your local Ford dealer.

MG and Maxus are already sharing the MG factory site in Thailand.

In China they have separate factories, although the Maxus factory at Wuxi is, like Longbridge and the Thai factories, a NAC factory.

We have yet to find out if EcoConcepts are still involved...

Eastern Europe is SAIC conquer Europe "bridgehead."

also Phase 3 of the still-awaited EU drive.

Not an auspicious time or wording. I wonder if any MGs have been sold in the Crimea?
