Re: TV Advert
facespace says 14th May - that's only a week on Saturday now!
The new slogan is "IT'S TIME TO FALL IN LOVE AGAIN"
(you may need facespace to see the above, so here's another)

Seen it now (IE7, Windows XP).
Nice! is that the rearlights?
It will be interesting when the car is launched. Many people are not aware there has ever been any kind of MG other than sportscar...

Re: TV Advert
yes, we might think that "many people" dislike the MG6, but most people I know cannot recognise what sort of car I drive, and if I just give them brand and model name, they have no idea such a thing was ever in production. I explain it was the MG version of the Rover 45 but most people have no idea what that was either.Roverman wrote:You are right, I was talking with a friend the other week and she said what did I mean new MG's ?
Then again, even on .org there was a thread asking how it was possible to have a "59" reg TF...

You could try telling them that it shares a body with the Honda Civic... bet that would get a different response...patpending wrote:yes, we might think that "many people" dislike the MG6, but most people I know cannot recognise what sort of car I drive, and if I just give them brand and model name, they have no idea such a thing was ever in production. Re: TV Advert
(Is this the TV advert?)
MG "Brand" advert now here - http://www.mg.co.uk/mg6-landing.html
Is that what will be shown during Elsie Tanner on the Bus with the Football?
I make that 2½ minutes!
Seems odd that they are saying that the MG6 builds on a sportscar heritage without even showing recognisably-MG saloons in colour.
What model is that at about 70' in? "Cherished by the people who built them"? It's actually a 4-seater - the line in the background is facing the other way from the direction the men pushing the cars in the foreground are going. A (derivative of) the bull-nose Morris? Is that somewhere in Oxford, or Abingdon?
Squarely aimed at the recollections of people about pensioner age or in their 50s. In some places if I said that I would get lynched! Here I can think that these are the people with the ready wonga to buy an MG6 (the model is nor really mentioned).
The music is very Vauxhall Vectra!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-ttiHuo2GU
"Behind us we have 85 years of motoring heritage" - counting from 1924.
"And in front of us?"
A ***** Toyota!

Re: TV Advert
A very nice piece I think. Top marks to MG.
The lack of the MMMs and the P4 MG cars is no real loss at this stage. The last thing they need to be reminding potential customers of the things they hate like HGF.
By gum this is a new era for MG...roll on the sniff petrol take on this

yes, for the core punterhood it's the sportscars that embody the spirit of MG.richardk wrote:A very nice piece I think. Top marks to MG.

I am reminded of the Triumph Acclaim advert...
Did I mention the new MGs are actually very MG-like, unlike the Acclaim which could legitimately be said to be very Honda-like under the sellotape? (Compared to the TR7's quality, no bad thing!)

Re: TV Advert
I watched it in HD - very good advert...really showed the MG6 as a desirable sporty car...woof woof.
Leaps and bounds ahead of the 'get granny out of the old folks home in a TF' isn't it..or Gamble on buying a Rover 25

Re: TV Advert
Concentrated on a feeling and not facts and figures.
You can't argue with a feeling.
Strangely enough, for me that feeling is Wolseley and MG interests me because of having lived at the (pre- "MG") Morris Garages!

I'm sure the granny advert appealed to a lot of people, but I suspect it was mainly the ones with no money for buying a new car!

and it was on after the footy on Saturday which will have been an expensive slot - it's hardly one of those Pearl & Dean "Indian Restaurant" ads!Windy wrote:Just seen it in the middle of Poirot, bit surprised that they are still running - they must be serious about selling a few...
However, no dealer in W London before Cowley and none in NW London, nor S London without a trip to Epsom, Croydon or Kent - and only Cardiff for the whole of Wales - for millions of viewers the ads are just going to be 'interesting'...
