This report by Ash "China Car Times" Sutcliffe is evidently written with syndication to German journoland in mind:
As you might expect, it's a fair review. Autocar however fail to mention that the car being tested is the Chinese spec. No-one in their right mind would sell a 4-speeder in the UK in 2012 and 108hp does not count as "powerful" nowadays though it's about 1975 Golf GTi (110hp, 5-speed)(!) UK spec will be different.
The MG5 offers distinctive design, strong heritage and a well made interior but the entire package let down by a poor drive train

Despite its relatively low price the MG5 is a solid vehicle, chunky plastics adorn the door inserts and the same plastics cover the dash are interceded by tastefully placed chrome strips. Whilst the MG6 was knocked slightly for its lower quality plastics, the MG5 needs to be praised.
