When or if are MG going to promote this car in the manner it deserves.

We are now fast approaching Sept 1st, and still the silence is deafening.

This morning the Daily Mirror had a new cars arriving soon article in it,

unfortunately not a mention of the MG3.  I am fast coming to the conclusion,

that perhaps they do not have the capacity to build in large numbers.

I do hope i am wrong.  Come on MG start banging the drum! Shocked

Moved to UK news (MG3's been out there a while in China)... Wink

and title edited for typo Wink

I agree, it's a great car, it needs marketing as does the brand, I doubt many people are aware that any new cars are leaving Longbridge...

I have heard the order book for the MG3 is nearly full so perhaps they dont need to advertise?

The only people on the order book, are die hard MG fans like us.

Most people in this country don't even know the brand is back in production.

If they they do not advertise the fact that they are back in business, then

once the initial orders are completed, were are the future sales coming from?

See this weeks Auto express, they express the same concerns i have.

However i do hope i'm wrong, and sales take off dramatically.

Their is a nice piece on MG in this weeks Autocar. MG! i wish you all the

success your efforts deserve. All the best Davea.

This is the danger- they sell loads to die-hard MG owners, to a load of young drivers still running ZRs and to all the dealers as demos...

    Then what?

Hi snifferdod, don't bother buying the Auto express, it only reiterates more

or less what i have said. That their are not enough dealers, and without

substantial advertising, they will not raise public awareness to the required

    levels.

The title of this thread is "a very quiet lead up to launch" if they have filled the order book for the first batch,(700 vehicles has been mentioned) these orders may not be fulfilled until the end of the year, then they may not need to advertise heavily before launch.

To have a waiting list for the MG3 is a good position to be in.

I assume from your reply to my earlier thread, you have placed an order?

    Snifferdog

The comments in Auto Express have not been made by the magazine or a journalist but someone who sent an email in. I wonder as it reiterates what David has put did he sent it into the mag?

Other comments are very positive stating "the MG3 will sell well etc"

Maybe they planned to start Longbridge MG3 production next year, expecting it to take the rest of this year to sell the China produced ones, if the order book is already full then what are they going to do about producing some more before they run out? They can't just work overtime if the lines are not yet running...

I have heard that the lines are already capable of MG3 manufacture so this should not be a problem?

The revenue from the sales of the first batch will give MG the working capital to start advertising.

I genuinely wish MG Motor UK every success and have backed them twice by purchasing 2 new vehicles from the company, I may soon have a third Very Happy

The MG3 insurance rating of 4E has just been announced in a news item on the MG website today and the article also mentions a 'mid-September' launch so I guess we are still in the build up phase. Key dealers such as Pinkstones and Brown and Gammons are showing registered cars on their facebook pages but no opportunity to drive them yet. I agree dealer numbers are critical to success and even the two they announced in the Sheffield area are still not yet on the website. Hopefully by 'mid September' there will be more new dealers and some cars to drive - I would then expect to see the advertising start..

No i have not placed an order for the MG3, as the vehicle i presently own is running

like a dream. But being as i only drive automatics, MG don't produce any at this

moment in time. Who knows what the future brings!
