    Looks like the motorshow concept was way off the mark - we seem to be getting Ssanyong technology with design cues from the concept added on. The concept looked stunning; I can't yet imagine how the sleek design elements of the concept are going to work on this very upright, clunky Korando architecture.

    Looking through the camo, it appears to have nearly all the features of the concept, although it does have decent door handles - I think it will be a lot closer to the concept than you suggest.

    The Guangzhou Auto Show is not far away now, but will the CS be there? I see the plug in 550 is now definitely confirmed.

    I think it looks quite good.

    I can't believe how many people get upset when a production version isnt exactly the same as the concept.

    It looks a lot taller. The concept had many styling features that contributed to it's 'lean' look, like the narrow windows and scooped air dam (plus thinner door handles, flush glass, sleeker lights etc). It looks like, by using the Korando, they have a conventionally shaped SUV onto which they have placed the bits from the CS - and altered them to fit.

    The point above about the transition from concept to production - there are 2 types of concept cars. The first sort is the Icon - it's a styling exercise; a canvas on which they have shown some ideas. The second sort is the CS that they showed at the shows (and the MG5 too) - where they show a design and say 'this is what we are working on and we are working on productionising it'. And then they launch a car which, although you can tell it is derived from the show car, looks far less interesting. It's frustrating; gets your hopes up when they show something jaw-dropping, then they launch something quite run of the mill.

    But I am prepared to see what the finished car looks like. I'm just saying it isn't looking as good as the motor show car.

    For those of you in West that are eagerly awaiting a perfectly sized MG somewhere between the tiny MG3 and the oversized MG6, fear not as the MG SUV is on its way, possibly soon.

    On the engine front the MG CS is likely to be receiving two blocks, the first a 1.5T and the second a 2.0T. The 1.5T will debut first in the MG5 which launches next week and the second 2.0T is of an unknown origin, some have hinted at GM others have claimed its SAIC’s own party piece. The 2.0T is of interest as it boasts 150kW of power and 280Nm of torque which apparently propels the SUV from standing to 100km/h in just 7.8 seconds, which isn’t shabby.
    SAIC has seen SUV models its makes such as the VW Tiguan fire off, so hopefully they have learned that the CS needs to be awesome if they are to succeed and avoid an MG5 style flop.

    The CS will be for the Shanghai Show at Easter, although it may be released a little earlier if it is ready. Don't expect to see it at Guangzhou.

    I'm not sure what the delay is. I think it may be partly the engines, they are now testing the first batches of the 2.0T in the Maxus G10 and the 1.4T in the MG GT so it makes sense to wait a few months to check that there are no surprise problems with the production version. I think maybe they have also been taking the opportunity to remove some SsangYong technology from the car, although I've never seen that confirmed anywhere. It no longer looks much like a SsangYong Kyron.

    Yep, me too I think it's because of engine
    But it's not the first time MG delay these car : MG5 after Guangzhou last two year, GT after Beijing this year
    April 2015 will be very long to see new MG :-)

    Fuel consumption for the 220bhp 2L turbo direct injection + Dual Clutch transmission - Chinese version :

    Urban: 10.5 / 26.9
    Extra Urban: 6.4 / 44.1
    Combined: 7.9 / 35.8

    For comparison, a Ford Kuga 1.6 EcoBoost 178 bhp 6-Speed Auto gives 7.7 / 36.7 combined
