Roewe midsize SUV next year to push the replacement model

SAIC two years ago launched its mid-sized SUV-Roewe W5, SAIC is deemed to show the strength of its independent representatives SUV, which Shanghai Automotive Brand Tao, director of product planning department has said: Our interpretation of the Roewe W5 is "collar professional martial", a true sense of its own brand of high-end professional SUV.  To continue to root out potential products, the Roewe W5 replacement schedule rafts has been recently interviewed Netcom agency insiders to SAIC passenger cars, he said: We will spend 1.3 billion yuan for the development and updating of W5, the new car will be in the next year launched.

Roewe W5 current in terms of design is taking the hardcore route, next year the launch of a new generation of models will not change this idea.  But it is worth noting that the absolute level position in the SUV market leader in the Land Rover will be the new W5 "reference object", Land Rover has always been the atmosphere is expected to be no shortage of fashion show will be on the latter.

Today, no longer confined to its own brand of small cars developed for enhancing the brand image is very helpful in high-end models become mainstream, which ultimately SUV natural area.  Roewe W5 achieved after upgrading still no shortage of strong competitors, including Harvard H8, Luxgen big seven other independent mid-sized SUV will have a share in this market segment.

If SAIC really want to tackle LandRover now, they need to start with the basics. They need to make a Defender - that is the vehicle that established LRs reputation because, even though it isn't refined or even very comfortable, it is durable, it will go anywhere and it is instantly recognisable.

Based on what they have produced so far, they aren't going to come up with a RangeRover or a Discovery any time soon. They're more likely to fall into the trap of producing something 'sufficient' and then loading it with faux leather, faux wood, silly alloys and paint schemes and a lot of gizmos. They need to come up with a car that can prove it's basic capabilities and only THEN worry about tackling the big players in that market.

That wouldn't be a replacement for the W5 though, and being a Roewe it should have some luxury to it.

Although if you put off road tyres on the current W5 then it does have decent ability and even the new MG CS will if it matches it's original specification sheet!

If they want to compete with the Defender, they need a Maxus SUV  Twisted Evil

And call it a Nuffield - seriously, has SAIC never tried to make a tractor?

But anyway, the headlong rush to make their cars more luxurious seems to be building a potential problem - the number of minor electrical niggles that owners of MG6s seem to have is getting to be an issue. Do Chinese market cars have these issues too, or has Longbridge got a lot to learn...?

SAIC started life as the Shanghai Tractor Company Wink

I think they should call some of them "Tonka" - The word means the same as Maxus and even sounds similar to Maxus in Chinese but backwards. My ZS was followed by a rather large LWB Defender with extra ground clearance a while ago, it overtook me while I was doing 70 and it had a very large trailer full of tree trunks - it had a very large grill badge - "Tonka"!

I haven't noticed, although some of the problems appear to be to do with the conversion to RHD, maybe the UK's fault?

Roewe SUV models will launch a variety of

SAIC's Roewe brand is currently mainly in sales 350,550,750 other cars, mainly in the field of its only a mid-sized SUV -W5, however, with the rapid growth of the domestic SUV market sales in recent years, relying on a single product has lagged behind competitors footsteps.  For current product more single SUV field situation, the Roewe brand marketing operations director Tao SAIC Passenger Vehicle Company in an interview with China Netcom agency said in an interview: "Roewe SUV brand in the future will be rich product lineup, we will launch Roewe W3 and Roewe W7." From the naming point of view, the Roewe W3 positioned as a small SUV, and Roewe W7 positioned as a large SUV, will launch two new competing with Ford Wings and Toyota Highlander, such as stroke.

Roewe W5 currently positioned in the midsize SUV segment, as consumer demand for increased product diversification, future Roewe SUV will launch a variety of different areas of the product.  It is reported that a small SUV Roewe, SAIC has started research and development in the UK R & D center, which Chu Jian, director of the Roewe brand promotion SAIC had said: "Small SUV should reflect the personality, coupled with a sense of movement, the line is very clear sense of motion flavor , gives a new visual feeling. So the CS and the W3 are going to be spun off the same platform. It'll be interesting to see if these are 'twins' in the MG6/Roewe550 mould, or quite different, like the 350 and MG5.

The description: "Small SUV should reflect the personality, coupled with a sense of movement, the line is very clear sense of motion flavor" seems a little odd, that is more or less the description of the MG CS - stylish and sporty. I would have expected the Roewe version to be aimed at a different market to the MG.

But maybe the small SUV will actually be MG3 sized?
