    (1) Saloon by September

I am delighted to confirm that MG will launch a second new model in 2011 - the four door sports saloon. We are really excited about this second new car as it offers a highly desirable sports saloon at a price which should also be very desirable in the current market. The sports saloon will be available in the second half of the year in time for the September market.

    (2) Diesel 1 year post launch

The diesel version of MG6 is planned to be launched 12 months after the petrol model. With the recent increases in the price of diesel, we are seeing an increase in interest in the petrol model from private buyers who do not use their vehicles for high mileage.

    (3) Brand - "MG" not "Morris Garages"

As part of the major launch activities next year we will be updating the brand identity. We do not need to use the Morris Garages script here as part of the branding, this will only be in China and other markets where MG has not had a visible presence before. We will keep the iconic logo intact but there will be a closer relationship between the car and the branding and more global consistency as we are now a global British brand.

I was thinking that too, they don't need to make a big fuss about it but in the right place it looks good and adds a little substance to the name/brand. It is a brand with history and not one that wants to shake off its history like BT did.

has anyone got a link to the 1930s case where it was successfully argued that the dealer Morris Garages was not the same as the car brand MG?

Was a car ever branded Morris Garages?

I used to live in the Morris Garages where they were located until 1910 - 14 years before MG!

I just logged into FB and it appears that the answers given have been removed. It is - in my opinion - an amateur way of 'communicating' prior to a major launch, and extremely poor customer service for those answers to have been removed from FB.

So that is why the Austin 7 is labeled 1924 instead of 1922 - MG didn't exist in 1922 bom

I'm sure we can think of a few Morris drivers - even in the badge-engineered 60s - who couldn't imagine driving an Austin...

From MG Chat with Guy Jones
As promised, more on the questions we were unable to answer during Monday's Live and Online. We were asked whether we plan an MG6 Estate car. This is not part of our current strategy for the MG6 platform.

Shame, I thought an estate would look pretty good and increase sales.

when you consider the role the estate used to play - Cortina Estate, 504 Estate, Volvo 245 Estate - with people carriers etc the market seems to have shrunk...
