Oh no! Worst reliability problem I have ever heard of - and CLARKSON! Top Gear 482757 Top Gear 482757 Top Gear 482757

what could have caused it? Never low fuel!?

And here’s the Top Gear host having to put his back into it after an MG6 car he was driving conked out on a yellow box junction. The 53-year-old looked a bit sheepish as he and pal Andy Wilman had to shove it past chuckling onlookers.
One said: “The car stopped right in the middle of the road and almost caused a collision with a taxi.
"They frantically got out and pushed the car but it wasn’t easy to move and they didn’t look the fittest men.
“Jeremy looked embarrassed by the whole episode and walked off shortly afterwards.”

We all know that Clarkson doesn't read manuals:

Start - Stop digital intelligent start-stop energy saving system

The Smart Charging brake energy recovery system

Power and fuel consumption is born of a contradiction, you want to get a good fuel economy in congested urban environments, this seemingly impossible idea, but now it has become a reality, the new Roewe 550 will be the leading technology for the consumer The extraordinary fuel-saving experience.

New Roewe 550 is equipped with Start - Stop digital intelligent start-stop energy-saving system through the computer to determine the state of the vehicle, such as red light, blocking stagnation, the computer can control the engine automatically stops running and operation of the engine is stopped during the car does not affect the use of air conditioning, stereo and other equipment. Completely avoid the energy consumption of the engine at idle, and further enhance the fuel economy of the new Roewe 550. Tested, equipped with Start - Stop digital intelligent start-stop energy-saving system of the new Roewe 550 3.5% fuel economy and cut emissions by 6%.

Not only that, the new Roewe 550 equipped with Start - Stop digital intelligent start-stop energy-saving system has been demanding the repeated testing of the DIS system, reaching 240 thousand times start and stop does not fail, in full compliance with the technical standards in the EU market. If you start and stop 40 times a day, sufficient for more than 15 years.

It is worth mentioning that the the Smart Charging brake energy recovery system, the new Roewe 550 is the first in its class conventionally powered car equipped with a the Smart Charging brake energy recovery system, the kinetic energy of the system can decelerate the vehicle when transformed into electrical energy stored in the battery to improve the efficient use of vehicle energy. And the brake energy recovery system according to the battery, the battery temperature, the engine operation state automatically adjust the amount of power generation, to achieve faster charging, the higher the efficiency of energy use.

It isn't a diesel though is it? It says they later drove off but I'd have thought they'd mention if they were seen refilling it.

    Apparently it is: http://www.wheelswithinwales.co.uk/articles/MG6GTdiesel

Although my quote was about the new petrol, not sure if the start-stop and smart charging and intelligent handbrake are quite the same?

Ah. Hmm, well, I wonder if they were doing 'an hilarious prank' for telly, or whether it genuinely got confused and refused to budge. I'm not sure which is worse!

German cars get marked down as "unreliable" in the States because the drivers just expect to hop into them and drive off - no RTFM. If the engine suddenly cuts out at the lights - unreliable.

Can't imagine Clarkson paying much attention at a technical briefing TBH. If he were a Lancaster pilot, it wouldn't surprise me to hear about him bombing Loch Ness. And not knowing which button was the bomb release. Wink
