So it looks like the 1.5T is going in the Roewe 350, Roewe 550, MG5 and Huatai A25 all in January... Hope they have it working reliably!

Interestingly they don't mention the MG 350 - presumably that's getting no more investment, to be replaced by the MG5 Magnette at some point.

Is 'Magnette' used in other markets?

It is a Chinese article and they don't have an MG 350 in China; guess it depends on demand but we know the 350 sells quite well in countries it is available in, it's not necessarily going to be replace by the MG5 just as some countries sell both 550 and 6.

I think all the right hand drive countries have the Magnette, NZ, Oz, SA, UK and presumably the RHD European countries will very soon...

I get very confused about this - the 5 and the 350 are based on the same platform, yes? No, hang on...

I believe the MG350 and Roewe 350 are basically the same car with different bumpers and an MG5 steering wheel.  The MG5 hatch uses the same platform, but then so does the MG CS, they are different cars that share a lot of the components but will have different bodies, dashboard, wheels, springs, seats, paint etc - a lot of differences.  The MG5 Magnette has yet to be released so we don't really know what it is but I would expect it to share most of its components with the MG5 hatch and far less with the Roewe 350/MG 350.
