156hp from a 1.4 with a 7-speed DSG? I would hope for much lower CO2 than the TCi-Tech with almost identical power.
Longer than the 5 - how much shorter than the 6?

I've not heard anything about the UK, but I don't think they would be putting the new engines in this now unless the intention is to test the new engines and transmission ready for release in the UK/Europe/New Zealand next year, as long as there are no serious problems.  So I guess next autumn for the UK.

I've not seen emissions figures and even if I had, the Chinese test emissions and measure mpg differently so it would be meaningless!

The 7-speed DSG appears to be a dry clutch version so emissions should be less than a manual in the official test so way below the MG6 turbo.

It must be shorter than the 6 ... where is google...

It's a strange thing, but the shots of the rear of the car taken from a few feet back show it to be quite narrow, but the three quarter shots of the rear showing the deep corners of the rear bumper make it look quite wide. The MG6 has more shape to the lower edges of the bumper by comparison.

The bumpers are very heavy looking and dwarf the wheels - I'm not going to say it needs bigger wheels, but... it's very similar to the MG6 in that it has a very deep 'flank' from the rear side windows to the rear wheel arch which isn't helped by a definite 'tail up' stance. That definitely seems to be an MG thing - and I don't know why. This car and the MG6 could both cope with a sort of MGA wing line, the sort that they put on the Icon show car, to fill that gap. I don't know why they don't. It would be distinctive and unique on this class of car really.

The grille is going back to the old MG grille of the 50s - the old MG grille was a definite 'V' to the top edge and that's the shape of this. Also they've moved the mesh to the lower air dam and the main grille has grown vertical bars either side of the badge - a bit retro. Disappointed that the headlamps don't have little octagons in them like the MG3; I thought that was a nice touch.

It's an interesting car but I still don't know what to think of it - it's better from some angles than others and probably better if it isn't in white. Pity it isn't handsome from ALL angles. It looks very contemporary, which means they'd best get it on the market asap. Ideally new cars should always look a bit forward thinking; I think they're still playing it safe. It reminds me a bit of the electric cars out there - again, they are fairly plainly styled almost to 'reassure' people that they aren't going to be too weird to live with.

This is the new MG GT, looking completely ready for its launch on the Chinese car market on November 1. Price will start around 120.000 yuan and end around 150.000 yuan. The MG GT officially debuted in a box on the 2014 Chengdu Auto Show.

The MG GT looks like a fastback but is in fact a sporty sedan, based on the same platform as the MG5 hatchback and the Roewe 350 sedan. At launch the MG Gt will only be available with a new GM-sourced 1.4 turbo with 156hp and 235nm, mated to a equally new seven-speed DCT. In 2015 the well-known and much-cheaper 109hp 1.5 and 129hp 1.5 turbo will join the line-up. The MG GT will be exported to the U.K. starting in Q1, but only with the 1.4 turbo under the bonnet. No word yet about a diesel.
    Size: 612mm/1804mm/1488mm, wheelbase is 2650.

Yes - looks better in other colours. The interior looks like it's way ahead of the 6 and 3 too.

Interestingly, the front bumper has a moulding to fit Chinese numberplates and definitely not UK ones. So there will be at least one mod for any EU car.
