    xpart confirm on .org that they do not have a contract to supply parts for the MG6. MG Motor are going to 'go it alone'. http://forums.mg-rover.org/showthread.php?t=423281

    I see no MG parts operation, not even at one of their 50-ish UK dealers!

    No crashing those MG6s now, d'you hear? Laughing

    There will be plenty of parts in the factory, however if you damage the wing, you will have to have a whole new bodyshell including interior Laughing

    I am wondering what the Achilles heel of the MG6 will prove to be.

    I had been wondering about the electrics.

    If SAIC's business model is to chuck the part onto a lorry at Lingang, they could be facing an issue like when IKEA failed to sell chests of drawers in the US because although they have cold winters like Sweden, the Americans store sweaters in drawers rather than cupboards!

    Remember Tracy Island and the fact no more could be delivered in time from Hong Kong when they ran out?

    I thought it was a well known fact that no new MG parts will be available from X-Part ?

    There's money in them parts...P4 only sold as they were so in need of cash. Just think where UniPat? came from

    Hopefully MG have got this sussed..they've had that plan for quite a while now so plans must be afoot

    Modern motors if built properly don't need that many parts anyway

    As you would expect, they're not building up a network of sheds, they have given the contract to some big boys. Though this article is timed after my post!

    I think they did it for two reasons.

    1. To gain some much needed extra cash.

    2. To safeguard the availability of parts in the event of going bust.


    Imagine if the parts company had also gone as part of MG Rover's demise !

    I don't believe for one minute that the P4/5 would have taken action to "ring fence" valuable assets outside the parts that they owned, for any reason.

    If a parts company with valuable parts as assets had been part of the failed group, then it could have been sold off for money.

    and it's so funny that although xpart is in no way pronounced "ex-parrot", Caterpillar's UK "Evil Lair" HQ (just a joke) is in Desford, home of Parrot World!
