    Former AVIS fleet is back at MG Motor and now available for hire from as little as £20 per day or just £120 a week – a great way to combine business with pleasure
    MG is launching a car rental business and it started with an international flavour when visitors from Sweden and Australia were among the first to sample the new MG6 this way. MG Car Rental will operate out of the company’s on-site factory Sales Centre and will hire petrol MG6 GT and Magnette models at highly competitive rates.

    MG Car Rental hire rates start from just £20 a day with 150 free mile. Weekly rental rates are £120, which are extremely competitive.

    I cant make my mind up if that reeks of desperation, or if its a good way of making some money/getting some extra exposure.

    Id be tempted to take advantage of it if/when Im in the area.

    This has been running for a while, I read an article/post on an Australian site weeks ago from someone who had visited the UK and driven one around the country - good international advertising!

    I wonder if they have some that you can pick up at Birmingham International Airport as you walk passed the MG advertising?

    I actually think its a good idea. Didn't know it had been running for a while though, they need to advertise it more.

    They've got to do something with them I suppose!

    It should actually be useful - any wear and tear, breakages or recurring faults will be seen and have to be fixed on site. If MG want to find out what the MG6 is like in the real world, then what better way than have their own fleet!

    Do they have a service centre onsite now too? Must be busier than the CABs!

    Didn't someone say it was the lack of fast servicing turnaround that really turned Avis off?

    They can't be making anything out of this. I wouldn't have thought there's any profit under £40 a day without massive volume and slick back office.

    They're surely not sending them all to John Newey at Summit??!! Wink

    Yeah it was me! The Avis guy I least dealt with wasn't dissing the car but said there are no dealers. Avis are all over the country; they can't take them 100 miles or so to have niggly faults dealt with.

    But at this rate Longbridge will still be full of old fleet cars in various states of repair.
