The New MG4 Coupe

SAIC MG brand market operations senior manager Li recently in an interview with China Netcom agency said: "We will launch next year a similar level MG5 coupe model.  "According to the MG brand naming scheme, the new car is expected to name the" MG4 ".

Not sure if SAIC have called it the MG4 or if that is just the newspaper, it appears to be what I was calling the MG5 Magnette.

Yes, that is partly why I wasn't taking it too seriously  

That image has the Icon SUV - no mention of the CS though...?

It is the CS that is coming, I think the Icon was only ever intended as a pure concept to judge the reaction to a small SUV as an MG. The CS may have become another Roewe if the reaction to the Icon hadn't been so positive.

I think the reaction to an MG SUV was a lot more positive than they expected. There were certainly stories of the dealers being very keen on an SUV. I don't expect anyone expected the result to look quite like the concept.

We don't actually know what the CS will end up looking like yet!

We still haven't seen any spy shots resembling anything like an Icon test mule. Just the CS which seems to be loosely based on the motorshow concept they showed, but less sleek.

The Icon just seemed to have been shown at a motor show and then vanished - it hasn't cropped up anywhere, not in the studio shots of Longbridge or anything. If they were working on it I'd have thought we'd have seen another version of it by now, if only to show what they are thinking of in terms of frontal/grille design.

Is the CS under the covers labelled "MG4" (looks more like an SUV) and the Icon labelled SUV is the new "MG4" coupe?

That's what I wondered - the car under the sheet looks very upright - not like a coupe at all.
