I have edited the title because one plucky son of Ireland bought an MG6 as a personal import. Not sure (as at 23/6/14) whether the official sales will follow in 2014. though I believe I read somewhere 2015...

A while back, we sold a car to Adrian who went through the task of importing a car to Republic of Ireland. Well... a few weeks later, his new MG6 GT TSE in Regal Red is now fully legal and on the roads of Ireland and turning heads.
Adrian had wanted the MG6 since he saw the launch coverage on ITV Central, TV advert and then saw one in the metal on a trip to York. As a Rover 45 owner since 2002, he wanted to replace the car with another car built in the heart of the UK. With a stroke of luck, whilst on holiday in Barcelona, he was told he'd won a brand new Renault Clio in a competition (after a psychic reading said he would win a car!!), but he quickly sold the Clio and used the money towards buying and importing the MG6.
And now, after a long two-week wait to put the car through necessary import tests (plus the staggering 750-Euro annual road tax charge), the car is on the road, sporting 'IRL' number plates and creating a lot of envious looks with a very happy new owner!
Adrian has seen a 10-plate MG TF whilst in his day job - bus driver - so who knows... when will an MG3 be taken over?
