Following their success at Round One of the BTCC at the weekend, today MG announced plans for a third BTCC car. As the BTCC race grid is now full, the third MG will compete under Highway Code regulations on circuits like the M25 and the M60. The formula will involve twin catalysts and therefore be known as "MGTC".
Announcing the new formula, team principal Subin J. said that it offered a number of new possibilities. "Anyone who has already bought the BTCC edition MG6 road car can take part" said Subin. "The action will strictly be within standard driving regulations, though we know we can expect to relive 1990s BTCC action as various Volvos and Renaults attempt stupid manoeuvres. A special on-board camera will record all instances of Audis driving too close, although to be honest we are not sure that two hours' recording time will be sufficient to record all bad driving by Audis in a 1½-hour motorway event".
For the formula, Subin has added a special sticker to the rear of the MG:
