In contrast to the original SAIC cars that have been marketed in Israel until now (only 300 have been imported since the car did not have full approval), the new Chinese sedan will be imported with all the proper authorizations. Full European standardization has recently been received, including Whole Vehicle Type Approval (WVTA), which will enable SAIC to receive Israeli import approval. Israel will be one of the first countries to market the new SAIC car.

Not long to go now then until the Birmingham built Euro MG6:

The first Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) MG 350 family sedans will arrive in Israel in early 2012. These cars are expected to significantly change the Israeli automotive market in terms of the unprecedented dimensions/accessories/price ratio.

yes, if the only cars with full Euro approval came from Birmingham.

But this MG350 is not an Israeli Magnette if it is 4520mm long (MG6: 4651). So it seems more likely to me to be sourced from China like the existing MG350, but with Euro type approval. Presumably, if approval exists for any model, then it doesn't matter where it is made, or we couldn't buy any Korean-made Hyundais or Japanese-made Mitsubishis here.

    Well it does say:
The new car, which is produced partly in Europe and partly in China
I assume that means some Birmingam production.

But then again I would expect Birmingham to be producing the MG5, not the MG350. I don't think they have another Euro factory.

I saw "produced partly" and presumed that to mean "designed and engineered"...

    That would make sense.

I wonder if the Euro approval for the MG5 also covers the MG350, if not it would seem odd to get approved it just so that it could be sold in Israel...

Ahh, Google translates the article with the word "developed" instead of "produced".

She will arrive in Israel with 1.5 liter gasoline engine power 110 hp and automatic transmission made in Japan and with the level of standard amenities, which includes standard leather upholstery, electric seats, easy hoops, premium sound system and more.
Hello Wendy, where this gasoline engine is made ? Is it SAIC's Motors ? The engine is not made in Japan ?

Is this the New Small Engine NSE from Nanjing? AFAIK all new SAIC Motor own brand cars have their own engines designed and engineered in Longbridge - that's why, we are told, there is such a delay with the diesel MG6 because it is being developed from scratch...

Yes, the 1.5 is the New Small Engine, designed by SAIC at Ricardo and Longbridge, developed by SAIC in Shanghai and built by SAIC/NAC in Nanjing. Only the transmission is from Japan, and when the new dual clutch automatic transmission arives for the MG5, that is a SAIC design too.
