Yes I have noticed Purbeck MG and Falmouth Garages 'Coming Soon'. Finally some dealers for us down here in the south west to add to Specialist Vehicles in Plymouth, currently the sole dealer for 4 counties. I also notice there is a new 'aftersales' point at CAR's in Bridport, Dorset only a few miles from me.
The background I have so far is that Purbeck MG are part of the local WBM Group who currently represent Ford in Wool and Wareham and the site proposed for MG is on the outskirts of Wareham and currently a used car centre for the Group and a Motorpoint service site. Strategically not a bad location being 10 miles from the big Poole/Bournemouth conurbation.
Falmouth Garages in Penryn used to be a Skoda dealer, but like a few of the new MG sites announced recently, they currently represent Chevrolet who are now pulling out of the UK in 2015. Lets hope a few more Chevrolet sites turn to MG soon..

I recently noted that the dealer in Mountsorrel, Leicestershire, who had previously sold Škodas, picking up a lot of conquest sales as people's Volvo 340s and Mk2/3 Golfs conked out, now sells KIAs - Škoda is no longer necessarily a value-for-money brand.

A dealer from Devon used to sweep the South East looking for used low-mileage hatches to sell on to his customers, paying top dollar. Lots of Victor Meldrews in the South West.

I don't think MG can rely on a Dorset-based dealer to attract the Hampshire punters from Bournemouth and Christchurch, let alone from Poole! we just need more!

    • Awards voted for by 50,000 car owners and readers of Auto Express; the UK's biggest selling weekly automotive magazine
    • MG6 also wins Auto Express 2014 Driver Power award for Best Handling
    • SMMT figures show MG is fastest growing brand in UK in 2014

Longbridge, UK, 1 May 2014 - MG adds another podium position to its 90th year celebrations after being voted the third best manufacturer in the UK in the highly influential 2014 Auto Express Driver Power Survey.
This tops off a superb return to Driver Power for MG, which also saw the MG6 take sixth place in the model rundown as well as being crowned best-handling car. British brands took second and third place with MG finishing just behind Jaguar, with scores of 89.34 per cent and 88.98 per cent respectively.
Steve Fowler, Editor-in-Chief of Auto Express, said: "While some brands have exceeded expectations and scored highly for particular categories, MG has scored well across the board. It took second place in the handling section and third place for both ride quality and seat comfort. It's great to see British brands doing well."
Guy Jones, Sales and Marketing Director of MG Motor UK said "MG has made a significant investment  in British design, engineering and assembly and we are delighted to see that this has resulted in UK customers loving our new range of cars. The goal of the British team based in Birmingham is to continue to deliver the MG brand values and create affordable British cars with character making them great value and fun to drive, buy and own.  With these awards and SMMT figures showing that MG is the fastest growing brand in the UK this year, we are clearly succeeding"
He continued : The launch of our new supermini MG3 has increased brand awareness and enabled us to significantly expand our UK dealer network attracting thousands of new customers into the brand. The appeal of the MG6 has also been significantly increased with the addition of the superb new high-tech, performance diesel with only 129g CO2 resulting in zero road tax in the first year. Both cars have extremely low insurance groups from just 4E for MG3 and 13E for MG6 meaning you can have a car that is fun to drive at a low cost to insure, which is especially important for younger drivers ".
This year MG celebrates its 90th anniversary with the business in better shape than it has ever been.  In the UK, MG is not only winning awards for its cars but it is also winning on the track, with the MG6 GT jointly leading the fiercely competitive British Touring Car Championship.  Globally MG is expanding in over 40 markets with major investment in new models from parent company SAIC.  To celebrate this milestone year, MG is inviting both new and old fans of the brand to see past present and future MGs  at the MG 90 event on 21st and 22nd June at the world famous Silverstone race circuit.

That's a nicely written and thought out press release.

Looking at the list, it seems that Skoda and Dacia really are MG's competitors. VW, Ford etc. are way down!

Even BMW, Merc and Audi don't get close.

And what is Mini doing right down there, is it really that bad?

    Brilliant for MG though  sunny

It's all about preconceptions. BMW/MINI customers expect the earth, so any niggle is a major issue. For MG, it has a lot of very enthusiastic owners who are willing to overlook things, or, at least, not allow niggles to ruin their enjoyment of the car.

It's good news though and shows a portrayal of a company really on the up.

Yes, the majority of people who filled in the scores would have made them relative to what they expected from the car so the MG6 winning the best handling award doesn't mean that it is the best handling when compared to for example a Porsche, but doesn't mean it isn't either.

However that strongly suggests that Mini are not giving Mini customers what they expect while MG are giving MG customers more than they expect, Mini are failing while MG are succeeding and you might expect Mini to be loosing customers and MG to be gaining them. Of course MG doesn't necessarily want Mini customers, they may be so demanding that MG would get a bad score next year!

    • £99 per month 0% APR finance available on MG3 3Time
    • MG celebrating 90th anniversary at Silverstone on 21June
    • Results due to great value of MG3, MG6 and major expansion of UK dealer network

Longbridge: UK, 7 May 2014 - Figures issued today by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) show MG increased sales by a market leading 1600% in April 2014 compared with April 2013, from just 13 cars last year to 221cars sold this April.
This is the second consecutive month where MG has registered the largest percentage increase in monthly sales in the UK.
The SMMT figures also show MG having an industry leading 715% increase in sales from January to April - up from 94 cars in 2013 to 767 in 2014.
This success is being driven by the outstanding value-for-money of the new MG3 supermini range and the multi-award winning MG6 GT fastback and Magnette sports saloons and a major expansion of the dealer network.
MG has appointed 13 new dealers across the country so far in 2014 and is on plan to grow to around 80 sales points by the end of the year.
The incredible sales success is a great birthday present for the MG brand which this year celebrates its 90thanniversary with a major event at Silverstone on June 21st and 22nd.
The MG6 recently scooped the Best Handling car award in the Auto Express 2014 Driver Power awards and MG was voted the third Best Manufacturer in the Driver Power awards.
Until the end of June, the award winning MG6 now comes with an amazing 5 year peace of mind package that includes 5 years (or 75,000 miles) free servicing, 5 year free warranty, 5 year AA cover, 5 year fuel subsidy and 5 year 5% APR finance .
MG6 boasts an impressive equipment list as standard on all models, with class leading interior and boot space, and MG driving dynamics available in both a sporty GT Fastback and Magnette sports saloon body styles. Both are available in 1.8-litre turbo petrol and 1.9-litre turbo diesel variants. The range starts from just £15,455 and includes the new 350 Nm, 150 PS, six speed diesel engine, which emits only 129g/Km of CO2; making the MG6 diesel variant road tax exempt for the first year, and costing only £110 a year to tax thereafter.
Equally impressive is the MG3 supermini available until the end of June with £99 per month 0% APR finance on 3Time, which is fun to buy, fun to drive and fun to own with over one million personalisation options.  It has class leading chassis dynamics, and exceptional value for money aftercare packages. MG3s range from £8,399 to £9,999, or on PCP with 0% APR on 3Time and monthly payments from just £99 per month. The MG3 benefits from an ultra low 4E insurance group, strong residuals of up to 61 per cent, class leading interior and boot space, and high levels of equipment on all specifications as standard, as well as complete peace of mind with the three years fixed servicing package MG CARE3, the ultimate in carefree ownership.
MG's Sales & Marketing Director, Guy Jones, said: "These are outstanding results for us and we are delighted. It's also great for the British car industry, which we are proud to be part of. Modern MG's are designed; engineered and the final assembly of our cars takes place here at the MG Birmingham site in Longbridge.
"The success of the MG3 and MG6 ranges is down to the great design and engineering quality of the cars, the outstanding value-for-money with very high levels of standard specification and of course the fantastic driving dynamics and handling."
He added: "Our results show that once people test drive an MG they are delighted and our sales will certainly increase throughout 2014. With the major expansion in MG's dealer network bringing MG within reach of most of the major towns and cities this year, more people are now getting the chance to see for themselves what MG has to offer."

Purbeck MG seems to be in there twice! Wink

Voted by customers as the winner of Best Handling and sixth overall Best Car to Own in the 2014 Auto Express Driver Power Awards, the MG6 is already a favourite with MG owners for its drivability, affordability and exceptionally high levels of equipment included as standard. Now the MG6 is even more appealing as all specifications are available from just £15,455 to £19,995, and with the current ‘High 5' offer, MG6 customers can buy and drive away with complete peace of mind:

    2.     Five years free warranty
    3.     Five years breakdown cover with the AA

The MG6 also benefits from the lowest insurance group in its class, ranging from just 13E to 15E, depending on variant.
Furthering the commitment to great value, without compromise, all MG6 variants feature outstanding levels of equipment as standard, the MG6 S trim line features sports seats, 17" alloy wheels, electronic air conditioning (petrol variants) or dual zone climate control (diesel variants), front and rear electric windows, hill hold control, eight speaker stereo CD+AM/FM tuner with MP3 compatibility and USB port. The SE trim level adds cruise control, 6.5" satellite navigation with 27 nation coverage and lifetime TMC traffic avoidance and tyre pressure monitoring. The recently reduced, top of the range TSE also features leather seats, an upgrade to 18" ‘straight' design alloy wheels, auto dipping review mirror, automatic headlights, automatic rain sensing wipers, Bluetooth, brake disc wiping, front parking sensors, rear parking sensors and rear parking camera.
The MG6's high levels of equipment, value for money and recent pricing restructure now mirrors that of its smaller stable mate, the MG3, which is available for under £10,000 (from £8,399 to £9,999). The MG3 boasts an ultra low insurance group of 4E and strong residuals of up to 61 per cent, as well as class leading levels of equipment, interior and boot space as standard. Brecon MG
Sara Williams is currently the most successful female British driver in the history of British national rallying, becoming the first woman in 30 years to win a British national rally outright at the Swansea Bay Rally last May.
Sara, 25, started rallying before she was old enough to drive, at just 16-years-old, as co-driver for her father, Jonathan Williams, with whom she runs Brecon Motors in Brecon, mid-Wales; a former Austin Rover dealership which went on to become an MG specialist. The garage site, in Rich Way, The Watton, is in the centre of Brecon and has a staff of six, with a four car showroom and a three car workshop bay.
Sara said: "I've been very impressed with the new MG cars, both the MG6 and the MG3 offer really great value for money and are fantastic to drive, so once people here get to know them and test drive them, I think they will be won over too. My Dad rallied MG Maestros and Metros and given half a chance I'd like to rally the new MG3, but for now I'm happy to help sell them."
    Purbeck  MG
Purbeck MG is part of Wool & Bovington Motors which was established in 1950 by the grandfather of present day Managing Director, Nick Payne. The firm now employs 70 people on four sites with the MG operation to be based in the North Street, Wareham showrooms. The site is being substantially refurbished for MG and is expected to be fully operational by mid-May. One additional member of staff is expected to be recruited to support the anticipated new business with local demand for MG expected to be high.
Nick said: "It's great to be working with MG again. We had a long history with MG in the past and I know a lot of our customers will welcome back the new, modern MG with open arms.  The MG6 and the MG3 cars offer tremendous value for money, as well as being very comfortable to drive and a lot of fun too, so they will be very well received."
    County MG
Bicester, the first of four Eco towns planned for the UK, is also one of the fastest growing towns in the country. A £70 million revamp of the town centre is well under way and there are plans for 30,000 new houses to be in Bicester in the next few years.
Russell Crosbee, Operations Manager, at County MG, said: "Adding the prestigious 90-year-old MG brand to our business brings a very exciting opportunity to us and our customers. We're located at the centre of a phenomenally busy and rapidly expanding area of the UK right on the M40 corridor. New housing, business and retail development are springing up all around us.We are also in the heart of the Oxfordshire motorsport industry and just a few miles down the road from the world-famous Silverstone F1 circuit. Bicester is 15 minutes away from Oxford and Banbury, Aylesbury and Buckingham are 20 minutes away. We couldn't be better placed."
County have been at The Engine Room on Buckingham Road in Bicester since 1994 and specialised in selling prestige sports cars and convertibles. Russell said:"The MG6 and MG3 cars should be on the shopping lists for lots of people. They offer outstanding value and give a really good driving experience. You just have to try them."
County MG has a staff of 15 including a dedicated MG sales executive and more staff have been recruited. The modern two-storey dealership has six workshop bays, an MOT station and a large used vehicle sales centre.

Press release: I make the dealer total exactly 50 as of today, but including Phoenix and HPL 52. Greenhous have now left...

50th MG dealer joins rapidly expanding dealer network
16 new dealers appointed so far in 2014
Total of 80 new dealers expected by the end of the year, 100 expected by end of 2015
MG continues to be the fastest growing automotive brand in the UK according to SMMT
2014 marks the 90th anniversary of MG
Longbridge, 07 July 2014 - MG has surpassed the 50th dealer mark. The landmark figure comes just weeks after MG announced sustained growth in 2014, as the Midlands based manufacturer doubled 2013 total sales volumes in just the first five months of the year.

This week, Seward MG in Havant and Central Garages in Torbay have been announced as authorised MG retailers. The Birmingham based manufacturer is planning a total of 80 dealers in the UK by the end of the year, expanding to 100 by the end of 2015.

MG's 90th anniversary year continues to be one of unparalleled success for the iconic marque, as figures announced by the SMMT for May reveal that MG once again leads growth for the UK automotive industry.

Success has been due to the recent launch of the MG3 supermini and expansion of the MG6 diesel powertrain family, with a new 129g, 350 Nm performance diesel recently added.

    1. Five years free servicing up to 75,000 miles

    2. Five years free warranty

    3. Five years breakdown cover with the AA

    4. Five years fuel subsidy in the form of £500 worth of fuel vouchers

    5. Five year low finance of just five per cent APR

Launched in September 2013, the MG3 benefits from an ultra low 4E insurance group, strong residuals of up to 61 per cent, class leading interior and boot space, class leading chassis and driving dynamics and high levels of equipment on all specifications as standard. There are also over one million personalisation options and exceptional value for money aftercare packages to choose from. The MG3 is priced from only £8,399 to £9,999, or from zero percent deposit PCP from only £99 a month or from zero deposits.

Since November 2013, 22 new MG dealerships have opened in Havant, Torquay, south Sheffield, Dudley, Gloucester, north Sheffield, Woking, Spalding, Barnes in West London, Newcastle, Leicester, Harrogate, Doncaster, Northampton, Swindon, Norwich, Falmouth, Brecon, Maidstone, Wareham on the Purbeck peninsula, Oxfordshire and Exeter. Further new dealer appointments will be announced shortly, as MG plans to have around 80 sales dealerships on board by the end of the year, these will be supported by the further network of 13 MG after sales specialists.

MG celebrated 90 years of the iconic marque with the MG90 event at Silverstone circuit 21-22 June, which saw over 15,000 enthusiasts attend, and featured a collection of current production and historic MGs worth over £3 million.

MG WINS FIRST BRITISH TOURING CAR CHAMPIONSHIP MANUFACTURER TITLE

Just three years after returning to the British Touring Car Championship, MG lifted the prestigious Manufacturer's Championship at Brands Hatch last weekend.

The MG/Triple Eight team ended Honda's four-year dominance by taking the crown in a thrilling season-finale at the famous Kent circuit on Sunday

Drivers Jason Plato and Sam Tordoff racked up seven wins and 20-podium finishes between them in the 30-race calendar to see off rivals Honda by 95 points.

The BTCC programme has been a key part in re-establishing the MG brand in the UK and globally, raising awareness on TV, online and in national and local press.

The MG6 GT race car was designed to resemble the road car as closely as possible and in addition to the on-track programme, MG have also operated a very successful mobile showroom next to the track, enabling BTCC fans can see, touch and find out more about the latest MG6 and MG3 products.

MG Sales and Marketing Director Guy Jones said “Everyone at MG is delighted with this victory and the team’s success in placing the iconic MG brand, with its rich history of motorsport, back at the top of such a prestigious, exciting and challenging championship as BTCC. I want to thank everyone who worked so hard to make this a success both on and off the track. The team here at MG, Ian Harrison and the team at Triple Eight, the drivers Jason Plato and Sam Tordoff, Tesco, Castrol and all our other sponsor partners”.

Longbridge, Birmingham: MG has launched three additions to the MG3 personalisation range. The three additional graphics, named Boutique, Candy and Waves join the MG3 GO PERSONAL collection, and are now available to order from all MG dealerships from only £279 factory fitted.

Previewed by MG Design at the 2014 Superbrands London event, the latest collection of MG3 personalisation graphics will join the existing range of more than one million options currently available in the MG3 range, starting from just £39.00 fitted.

In response to customer feedback, the three new graphic packs consist of not only roof, but D post, wing and A post graphics. A Wasabi green mirror cap has also been added to the range to compliment the new graphics. The MG3 GO PERSONAL range options have already been phenomenally successful for the Midland's based manufacturer as, since the supermini's launch last year, over 40 per cent of orders have featured at least one specified design addition. All options can been seen on the MG3 configurator at www.mg.co.uk/mg3/configurator

Launched in September 2013, the MG3 benefits from an ultra low 4E insurance group, strong residuals of up to 61 per cent, class leading chassis and driving dynamics with exceptional interior and boot space. There are also high levels of equipment on all specifications as standard and outstanding value for money aftercare packages to choose from. The MG3 is priced from only £8,399 to £9,999, or on PCP with zero percent deposit or from only £99 a month.

MG has enjoyed phenomenal sales growth in 2014, with success due to the recent launch of the MG3 supermini and expansion of the MG6 diesel powertrain family, with a new 129g/km CO2, 350 Nm performance diesel recently added. The MG6 is already a favourite with MG owners for its drivability, affordability and exceptionally high levels of equipment included as standard.

In August, MG's rapidly expanding dealer network was announced as eighth best overall, and second for value of money, in the Auto Express Dealer Power Car Dealers Best and Worst survey. Since November 2013, 22 new MG dealerships have opened in the UK and further new dealer appointments will be announced shortly. MG plans to have around 60 sales dealerships on board by the end of the year, these will be supported by the further network of 13 MG after sales specialists.

    • MG celebrates winning first manufacturer title in Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC)

    • Trophies formally awarded to champions at prestigious TOCA Night of Champions
    • British brand ends Honda's four year reign as champions
    • MG driver Jason Plato runner-up in drivers championship
    • MG also celebrating fastest growing manufacturer and 90th anniversary in 2014

Birmingham: MG celebrated winning its first manufacturer title in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at the TOCA Night of Champions, on Saturday 22 November.
The champions of the 2014 BTCC series and supporting races were formally crowned and awarded their trophies at the prestigious Crown Plaza Heythrop Park Hotel in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire.
MG collected the BTCC manufacturer's trophy and the MSA award for the winning manufacturer whilst MG driver Jason Plato collected the runner-up driver's award in one of the most fiercely contested driver's championships in decades.
The victory was an incredible result for MG, ending the four year dominance of Honda in the Championship after only forming the team in early 2012. With a capacity grid, increasing number of manufacturers, models and top level drivers combined with rising attendance and media coverage, the 2014 season was referred to as the start of a golden era for British touring cars.
After collecting the trophies on behalf of MG, Sales and Marketing Director Guy Jones said "Winning the manufacturer title could not have come at a better time as part of the plan to re-establish the MG brand in the UK and global markets.  MG has returned to its rightful position at the top of British motorsport in the year that sees MG as the fastest growing brand in the UK and when MG celebrates its 90th anniversary.  I want to thank everyone again who worked so hard to make this a success both on and off the track.  The team here at MG, Ian Harrison and the team at Triple Eight, the drivers Jason Plato, Sam Tordoff and Tesco, Castrol and all our other sponsor partners".
"The BTCC programme has raised awareness of the brand with high-profile TV, online and press coverage that is not only followed in the UK but also across the world. The MG6 GT race car was designed to closely resemble the road car and combined with a very successful mobile showroom next to the track, we maximised the opportunity for BTCC fans to see and touch the latest MG6 and MG3 products".
MG literally raced to the grid in 2012 where the MG6 GTs turned their wheels in anger for the first time in the opening race and yet the team was winning races from that initial weekend. The goal was to win the manufacturer's championship but to do this meant defeating the established and highly successful Honda team, reigning champions for the past four years.  It is therefore a great achievement and credit to all at Triple Eight to achieve this in just three seasons.
MG is currently the fastest growing automotive brand in the UK with sales up 556 percent year to date (SMMT data) due to the outstanding value of the British designed products and the major expansion of the national dealer network.  The MG3 supermini offers top of the range specifications including DAB audio and Bluetooth, finished off with diamond cut alloy wheels all for under £10,000. With a range of over one million exterior and interior personalisation options and group 4E insurance, it is designed to attract a whole new younger generation to the brand, in addition to appealing to loyal MG fans.
The MG6 is already a favourite with MG owners for its drivability, affordability and exceptionally high levels of standard equipment and was also voted by owners to be the Best Handling and sixth overall Best Car to Own in the 2014 Auto Express Driver Power Awards. The appeal of the MG6 product range has been further increased with the addition of the new 350Nm, 129g CO2 performance diesel and new business lease rates starting from just £149 per month plus VAT.
MG is also celebrating the 90th anniversary of the brand in 2014 with exclusive 90th Limited edition models of both MG6 and MG3 now available.

News from MG MOTOR UK Ltd - Page 16 Empty MG expansion continues with new dealership in Coventry

Post by patpending Mon Dec 01, 2014 5:33 am

    Press release:

    1st Dec 2014
News from MG MOTOR UK Ltd - Page 16 380
MG expansion continues with new dealership in Coventry
MG’s latest dealer opens today in Coventry, one of the few cities that can rival the famous MG brand in terms of motor industry heritage.
Coventry MG becomes the 22nd new dealer appointed this year as the brand continues its major expansion. While new car sales in the UK are currently growing at around 10 per cent so far this year, MG has outpaced the market with a 556 per cent increase to become Britain’s fastest growing brand.
The new Coventry dealership, Coventry MG, is on London Road which is one of three ‘motor alleys’ in the city once dubbed the UK’s ‘Motor City’.  MG Coventry is part of the Coventry Motor Group and Managing Director, Jason Wainwright, is confident that MG will sell well in a city with such strong connections to the British motor industry.
Jason said: “The return of the MG brand has been remarkable and, having driven both the MG6 and MG3 models, I can see why. They are fantastic cars offering great value for money”.
“My grandfather had lots of MGs and his passion for the brand was passed to my dad and now I’ve inherited it. MG has always been about passion and affordable fun and these latest cars have all the character and charisma of classic MG’s. I just can’t wait to get started selling them.”
The London Road site has been associated with car sales for more than 17 years and the Coventry Motor Group have sold Mazda, Fiat and Suzuki cars. The company has built up a strong reputation for excellent customer relations and service.
The new outlet will serve what has been a key open point in MG’s dealer fast-growing network. They will cover both Coventry and number of large Warwickshire towns, including Rugby, Warwick and Leamington Spa.
Jason said: “It’s tremendously exciting for us. MG is a brand that is really going places. We’ve already taken on an additional specialist salesman and this may generate more jobs in the future.”
Coventry MG’s appointment comes just as news broke that Autocar, one of the most respected automotive magazines in the world, included the new MG3 supermini in its list of ‘The 50 Best Cars on Sale Today’ putting it ahead of cars such as the Audi TT.
Autocar’s verdict on the MG3 said: “The 3 is cheap, attractive, effective and fun. Just like an MG should be, in other words.” MG3 prices range from £8,399 to £9,999.
Sitting alongside the MG3 at Coventry MG is the multi-award winning MG6 GT. It was voted Britain’s Best Handling car in the 2014 Auto Express Driver Power Awards and sixth Best Car to Own.
It’s been a busy time for MG. Last week the company collected its first manufacturer title in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at the TOCA Night of Champions, wrenching the title from Honda which held it for the previous four years.
So far in 2014 new MG dealerships have opened in Barnes, West London; Newcastle, Leicester, Harrogate, Doncaster, Northampton, Norwich, Swindon, Falmouth, Brecon, Maidstone, Wareham, Exeter, Oxford, Havant, Torbay, Oldham, Glasgow, Christchurch, Newtownabbey and Nelson.

I also note that "Autocar" rate the driving experience above that of the far-smaller but more-expensive Twingo with its rear-engined, rear-drive layout in what today is a "tiny" car which journos have been praising for its handling!

It should rocket up the list once the new engines arrive, although they didn't pick the current engine out as a negative Dangling Carrot The new engine should put it ahead of that Fiesta that has got in among the Ferrari and German cars!

Vehicle design engineers at MG's Birmingham plant in Longbridge have raised over £5,000 in only 4 weeks for Macmillan Cancer Support in a moving tribute to one of their colleagues currently being treated for cancer.

When Brian Freeman a member of the electrical engineering team at MG was diagnosed with Cancer last year, his colleagues were impressed by the positive way he dealt with it.  Brian said he was able to cope thanks to the amazing support from Macmillan, so his colleagues within the electrical engineering team wanted to do some type of fund raising to give something back to Macmillan
They had a number of ideas from running marathons to charity football matches but were struggling to find an event most of them could take part in.  As they approached November they had the idea of doing a Movember challenge for Brian's chosen charity of Macmillan and after consulting Brian the Electrical team started the challenge to raise £2,000 with 10 people.
Due to Brian's popularity many of his colleagues in the wider engineering team wanted to take part and the MG ‘Mo Bro' numbers grew to thirty seven.  Due to peoples generosity and Brian's popularity, the Movember challenge has now raised over £5000 and donations are still coming in.
Emily Morgan Fundraising Manager for Macmillan Cancer Support said "This is fantastic news. It is great to see Brian's colleagues having some fun to raise money to provide care for people like Brian when they and their families most need it. This donation alone could fund the cost of a Macmillan nurse for over one month."
Richard McAllister, Vice Director of Electrical Engineering said "Brian is such a positive and well liked member of the team. We wanted to do something to support the people helping him and his family through this difficult time.  Brian still very ill in hospital so the team hopes that this news will lift his spirits and give him a his family a big boost.

MG to return to BTCC in 2015
MG confirmed today that it plans to return to the MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) in 2015 with the MG6 GT and continue the successful partnership with Triple Eight Race Engineering that saw MG lift the manufacturer’s championship in 2014.
MG Head of Marketing Matthew Cheyne, said “I am delighted to be able to confirm that MG will return to defend its title as BTCC manufacturer champions in 2015.  The three-year programme to race the MG6 GT with Triple Eight has proved so successful both on and off track that there was little doubt we would return in 2015. “
MG’s BTCC engineering partner Triple Eight Race Engineering is working on an exciting new-look driver line-up for 2015, which will see the MG6 GT’s re-branded and given a fresh look, courtesy of a host of new sponsors joining the team next year.
Cheyne continued: “The MG brand is iconic and Triple Eight are the most successful team in the history of BTCC, as such together we are an attractive proposition and believe we will be in contention to defend our title next year. The BTCC has never been in such good shape and with a full grid containing a wide range of manufacturers and models, plus rising attendance and viewing figures, I am excited at the prospects for 2015 for MG, Triple Eight, our drivers, sponsors and of course our loyal and growing worldwide MG fan base.
“The BTCC programme has been a key part in re-establishing the MG brand in the UK and also globally.  It has raised awareness of the brand with TV, online and press coverage that is not only followed in the UK but also across the world. The MG6 GT race car was designed to resemble the road car as closely as possible and in addition to the on-track programme, we have also operated a very successful mobile showroom next to the track, so BTCC fans can see and touch the latest MG6 and MG3 products.”
Triple Eight Race Engineering, Managing Director and co-founder, Ian Harrison commented: “We’re very much looking forward to next year, our fourth with MG and 19th in the BTCC. Over the past three years we’ve taken more race wins than any other constructor and manufacturer, and next year we are intent on extending that run of form. There’s little doubt that 2015 will be even more competitive than this year as teams get a handle on developing their cars, but we’re confident we’ve assembled the right elements to take it to the other teams and ensure we’re in the mix by the end of the year. “
MG is currently the fastest growing automotive brand in the UK with sales up 573 percent year to date (SMMT data) due to outstanding value of the latest products, which are designed and assembled in the UK and the major expansion of the national dealer network.  The MG3 supermini offers top of the range specifications including DAB audio and Bluetooth, finished off with diamond cut alloy wheels all for under £10,000. With a range of over one million exterior and interior personalisation options and group 4E insurance it is designed attract a whole new younger generation to the brand, in addition to appealing to loyal MG fans.
The MG6 is already a favourite with MG owners for its drivability, affordability and exceptionally high levels of standard equipment included and was also voted by owners to be the Best Handling and sixth overall Best Car to Own in the 2014 Auto Express Driver Power Awards. The appeal of the MG6 product range has been further increased with the addition of the new 350Nm, 129g CO2 performance diesel and new business lease rates starting from just £149 per month plus VAT.
