I don't expect UK MGs to be built in China any more than I expect Honda to close down it's Swindon plant and build all Hondas in Japan. If it makes sense for Honda to move production of the Jazz from China to Swindon then it makes sense for MG to build MGs in Longbridge. The decision will be not be based on what a few "enthusiasts" think though, it will be a business decision based on costs of production, sourcing components and resources, shipping etc. Both SAIC and the Chinese Goverment want their automobile businesses to go Global and it will which means Global production, the only question is when to press the Start button. The start may be slightly delayed due to economic conditions but in reality, SAIC has a lot of catching up to do with the other global companies, now is a very good time to do the catching up if they can afford it, and as one of very few global auto companies to still be profitable they are in a good position.
