Well as a Rover it didn't, and if it had it would have fallen apart as just about every part was not strong enough to cope with the torque, however the new 1.5T is producing more than the 1.8T used to so it is feasible that there is a new version of the 1.8T that does produce 192.

when the cc of engines is going down all the time and power is going up, it's interesting to see what a diesel can produce. Thirty years ago, 85bhp from a 1.6 VW petrol engine was pretty dang sporty!
